Project Manager (South Asia)
Ravneet Singh is currently the South-Asia Project Manager at EcoSikh (www.ecosikh.org). He has been spreading environmental awareness in Punjab from last eight years creating faith-based environmental activism in the Sikh community.
EcoSikh initiated in 2009, as a Sikh response to the United Nations call for faith action to combat the global environmental crisis and inculcate environment stewardship in the Sikh religion. EcoSikh collaborates with thousands of Sikh Gurdwaras and institutions all over India, Malaysia, Pakistan, USA, UK, Australia, France, Hong Kong, Norway, and many other countries.
At EcoSikh, Ravneet played a major role in establishing March 14 to be celebrated as World Sikh Environment Day. Today, over 5000 Sikh organizations in 15 nations across six continents, celebrate this day. It laid a foundation of environmental awareness and action in hundreds of Sikh Gurdwaras and educational institutions.
He is an inspiring storyteller coming from Sikh faith. He represented Sikh in 2011 at Italy and in 2013 at Norway, at United Nations NY and the NY climate march in 2014, United Nations Bristol meeting in 2015. He was also invited at by GreenFaith at the convergence of young environmentalists in Rome to take part in the climate march and for environmental training by global environment leaders.
Ravneet has organized the first-ever interfaith programme on climate change in Amritsar for the success of Paris Climate Summit COP21 in December 2015. He has participated in various interfaith discussions in India and abroad.
Since 2016, he has been organizing youth environment leadership training in Punjab promoting plantation drives, and advocating the reduction of styrofoam and reduction of water wastage in Gurdwaras. He has led the Green Nagar Kirtans in seven Indian states. Currently, in 2018, he is leading the project, Guru Nanak Bagh in Punjab, the first ever Gurbani based garden to exhibit all the trees, shrubs and plants referred in Guru Granth Sahib in 5-acre land at Patto Hira Singh, Moga.
Assistant Program Manager, India
Gurpreet Kaur, EcoSikh India’s new Program Managing Assistant, Gurpreet received a Bachelor’s of Technology in Computer Science Engineering from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana Punjab. She is also pursuing Master’s of Technology in Computer Science Engineering from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College. She has worked with Tata Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd. for 1.7 years and their NGO “Maitree”. She also started coaching classes for engineering students but had been always concerned about the damage being caused to the land and our surroundings, and is dedicated to working for the protection and conservation of the Mother Earth.
Gurkamal Singh, a Graduate and has achieved his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from “Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College” Ludhiana. He is skilled and hardworking engineering besides that he is more apprehensive about the environment. He been volunteering from two years contributing to each event with Ecosikh and now working as a full-time intern in the organization. With all his efficiency and willingness, he is ready to put anything on stake for the betterment of mother earth.
Administration Officer, EcoSikh India
Jasleen Kaur is a post graduate in Masters of Business Administration from Punjab Technical University with dual specialization in marketing and finance. She has done Bachelor of Commerce from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Previously, she has worked with HDFC Bank and VisaXpert. She is a firm believer of 3 Sikh principles-Kirat Karo, Naam Jappo and Wand ke Chhako. She enjoys clean nature as it gives her internal happiness. She is conscious of water-saving at home. She is engaged in handling office work and planning and preparation of the stalls for EcoSikh at various places.
